  • “Never let the truth spoil a good story”
The alumni of our workshop ‘Influencing More Effectively ’, sure will remember that the personal metaphor is one of the metaphor forms. Many of them use these metaphors in their work. The great advantage of this kind of metaphor is that you can use it in ‘unsuspicious’ situations, (such as at the coffee machine), especially when you do not have the formal position (yet) to use other forms (like for instance a story or even a fairy tale). These other forms – where the audience is well aware that you are using a story- are used for instance at the opening of a conference or at the kick off of a project group. Read more…

  • TEDxFlanders was organized on 20 October 2012 in the Flemish Opera in Antwerp. Joske Diesfeldt of the Association for Organization Development attended this TEDxFlanders Conference. This theme: Introspection. It is certain: the world is in overdrive, information is superabundant, but in order to advance, we must evolve, understand, look beyond what we see in everyday life. It's time for Introspection. Just as atoms explain the universe an water fleas produce breakthroughs in Darwinism, so too must we begin to recognize the smaller details that bring about insight and understanding. We should focus on people, not their appearances, but their intent, driving forces and fears, in order to understand science, politics, art, technology and much more, human nature. Read more…
